Did you show love to your home with an update? Share that with your insurance agent!

Love your home with a home update!

Love comes in many ways, shapes, and sizes.  It is also shown to many different people, places, and things.  One thing that we many of us love is our home!  We spend countless hours living in it and keeping it a place of refuge and joy.

We constantly show love to our homes by keeping the home updated and refreshed so they can continue to be that place of peace for us.  Did you know that those big updates are something you need to share with us, your insurance agency

3 Reasons to share Home Updates with your Insurance Agent:

  1. That’s right, we want to know when you update your HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or roof.  Why do we want to know?  First off, it shows you care about your home and you are doing your part to keep it in good shape.  Insurance companies like to know that their property owners take pride in their property and are doing their best to maintain it.  That makes a great partnership!
  2. Insurance is a contract between you – the property owner – and the insurance company.  In that contract and with the exchange of premium, you agree that you will do your part to maintain the property to help prevent wear & tear issues, and the insurance company will be there in the event of a sudden and accidental covered loss.  By keeping up with your major utilities, you are upholding your end of the contract and setting yourself up for a better claims experience.
  3. You might qualify for some additional discounts when you make major updates!  Voluntary updates can reduce your insurance premium. Better roofing coverage terms, discounts for central alarm systems, discounts for backup generators, etc.  Why leave money on the table?

Lastly, if we ever need to market your policy to find a better fit, we are going to need those updates for our other markets.  So why not provide the updates when they happen?  Even if you have made utility updates as the result of a claim, please let us know.  That information is not always reported back to us from the Claims Department.  A quick email or phone call is all we need.

So, get out there and show your home some love today.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
